It is mid-afternoon. Dhatri knows today will be special. She sits in the great room waiting for her aunt to enter.Her mother's sister is the head of the household. Under her aunt's direction, she will cross over from being a girl to a full woman.
After what seemed like a long time, her aunt appeared in the archway that lead down the hall to the bedrooms. "Come with me." her aunt said.
At the end of the hallway, her aunt stopped and open the bedroom door to her cousin's bedroom.
Once inside, Dhatri was told to remove her sari. Dhatri cousin, wearing white shorts, was sitting on the edge of his bed.
